The Barracks is a brand-new, 241-suite premium apartment community in the Village at Griesbach, north Edmonton. When the property team needed every window covered to a single, consistent standard, they came to Bold Blinds. Over the course of a year we measured, manufactured, and installed more than 1,100 manual roller shades - light-filtering for the living spaces, blackout for the bedrooms - unit by unit, working around occupied suites to keep the building running. Built locally in Edmonton, finished cleanly, and consistent from the ground floor to the top.
The Brief
A brand-new premium community needed a single roller shade standard.
The Barracks is a brand-new premium apartment community in the Village at Griesbach, north Edmonton - 241 suites that needed every window covered to a single standard, more than 1,100 windows in total. The property team wanted a clean, consistent look from the street and durable hardware that would hold up through years of tenant turnover, all delivered without disrupting occupied units. Off-the-shelf wasn't an option: every opening had to be measured, manufactured, and installed to match.

Our Approach
Manual roller shades, light-filtering and blackout, built to match.
We ran a building-wide measurement audit and logged every opening into a single master spec sheet. Our Edmonton facility built the full order in matching neutrals: manual light-filtering roller shades for the living spaces to soften daylight without blacking out the room, and manual blackout roller shades for the bedrooms for full privacy and sleep. Simple, reliable manual operation on every shade keeps maintenance low and replacements easy across a building this size. Installation was sequenced to work around occupied units and keep the building running through the rollout.

The Outcome

Every unit looks the same from the street and feels finished inside. The manual light-filtering and blackout combination gives tenants real control over daylight and privacy in every room, with hardware that's easy to service and swap over the building's lifespan. Delivered over the year, unit by unit, with one in-house team measuring, manufacturing, and installing from start to finish.
